This calculator does cost math only. It never provides powder charge weights, load recipes, or pressure data, and it never will.

Always use published load data from powder manufacturers, start at the listed minimum charge, work up slowly, and never exceed maximum charges. If you are new, learn from an experienced mentor or take a class before you begin.

What counts as "equipment cost"?

Be honest with yourself — the break-even only means something if the input is complete:

Don't count consumables (bullets, primers, powder, brass) — those are in your per-round cost from the cost calculator.

The uncomfortable truth about payback

Most reloaders never actually "save" money — they shoot more for the same budget. That's fine, but know which game you're playing. If your honest goal is dollars saved, high-volume shooting of expensive calibers on a progressive press is the only combination that pays back fast. A casual shooter loading 100 rounds a month of 9mm on a single-stage may take years to break even — and that's okay if you enjoy the process.
